Contemporary leadership demands the capacity to both hold and work across the organisational boundary. Fundamental to the understanding of role and task, boundaries offer containment and a place from which to negotiate effective collaboration with different parts of the system.
How does the coaching relationship help leaders successfully navigate this position?
Jennie McShannon is an executive coach and organisational consultant with Tavistock Consulting. She works with individuals and groups in a range of public and private sector organisations. Her practice is informed by a systems-psychodynamic approach. She supports leaders to understand themselves and their roles in the context of organisational dynamics, and the wider systems in which they operate, in order to lead and influence with greater impact. Jennie is a faculty member for Tavistock Consulting’s Executive Coaching Programme and on the Tavistock and Portman’s Master level programme ‘Leading and Consulting in Organisations’. To her coaching and consultancy work, Jennie brings 20 years senior leadership experience in the voluntary sector. Formerly a Chief Executive of a charity working across communities and with policy makers and business, she led organisational strategy, financial growth, restructures, and major stakeholder engagement programmes.
