Developing sustainable coaching capacity with NGOs

Session on 26 November 2019 11:00 UTC - View on timetable

Session

The EthicalCoach vision was initiated in Ethiopia. By introducing NGO leaders from non-government/civil society organisations to the power of coaching, the goal is to support them in their quests to make a substantive difference in the lives of millions of children and families in need.

We could not be doing this work without the support of our local and international partners, hosts, and volunteers from around the world who are generously giving of their time, expertise, and resources. It is through all of your combined efforts that this project is coming to life.

The journey began with the Ethiopian NGO Leadership Coaching Summit in October 2018 and the launch of a coaching programme that engages teams of coaches, comprised of world-class international coaches together with local coaches, in supporting the efforts of NGOs serving some of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable populations. The entire program is designed to foster local sustainability and is being evaluated through a rigorous assessment process that will allow best practices and case studies to be developed for replication around the world.

The coaching programme itself is being assessed using an impact evaluation approach. The goal of the impact evaluation is to demonstrate the effectiveness of coaching as a leadership development technique that results in the delivery of higher levels of sustainable organization performance. In the context of the Ethiopian initiative, this translates directly into the ability to support more children and their families. Each of us has the opportunity to have a positive impact on the world. Together, we are stronger and so much more can be achieved. How do we measure success and the impact of projects in this respect? What opportunities are there for increased collaboration and co-creation to establish effective impact evaluation processes for all our Coaching, Mentoring, and Supervision projects?
